Professor Dana Thompson's Quotables

Random quotes by the Economics prof:

The three major summer festivities are:

Gloom, Doom, and Groom:

Gloom, because of rising oil prices
Doom, because of the possible impending war with Iran
Groom, because of traditional summer weddings.

"The only way to fail is to do nothing--SO BE WILLING TO TAKE RISKS!!"

"The smart person is the individual who knows what they don't know."

Yeah, gloom, doom, groom is right. Life is crazy I guess, but we should enjoy the adventure, since we are strapped in for the ride. So, I discovered my ex-roommate Nick is engaged (to your cousin's ex-roommate)!!!! Isn't that awesome? He asked me to be a groomsman too :) But that won't happen until summer 2007.

"The smart person is the individual who knows what they don't know." I totally agree, and as a corollary, I discover that the more I learn, the more I discover I don't know.

HEY YOU! I haven't seen you in ages upon ages. I'm just coming out of my cave to say hey, and then I'm back in the cave yet again. Dang, I think I've forgotten how hard school is after having such an easy time in Olympia--no studying there!!!

Marriage. Awesome. I shall have to ponder the two words together, and then get back to you on how awesome marriage is :O). But technicallly the way you wrote it is that its awesome that he's your ex roommie engaged to my cousin's ex roomie, which is awesome, so ok, I'm in agreement :O). PLUS. There's nothing hotter than a guy in a tux. SUPER AWESOME!!!!!!!! I'll bring my girl cronies and we'll enjoy the men in tuxedos ;)

Wise old sage, you!

speaking of incorrect grammar, the other night I said in a sentence, "He treated me like a jerk" and then I realized it was incorrect grammatically, but i couldn't figure out WHY. Three of us had a lengthy discussion on it--correct, or incorrect? Handy dandy cell phone and cuz'n Charis solved the problem.

It would be correct to say, "He treated me like a child" because child is in reference to "me" whereas "jerk" is SUPPOSED to be inreference to "Him" not "me."

Not that it matters, because i'm off on a random spcheel (as Charis says! Dude. I'm QUOTING my cousin now!)

So, yeah, how was your Russian trip?

Catch you later.
